In The Spotlight has been offering students in Stratford the opportunity to perform and experience the arts for over 25 years. Thanks to the dedication and resources of Stratford Community Services and Sterling House, the program has been allowed to thrive and help foster a new generation of young performers. Starting in 2016, in joint effort with Sterling House, In The Spotlight is being sponsored by The Mighty Quinn Foundation.
Kevin Miller (Director): has performed at the Shubert in New Haven and at Mohegan Sun in the Bobby Darin musical “Mack the Knife”, appeared off Broadway in “Surf City, The Beach Boys Musical”, worked at Long Wharf Theatre in “Martin Night”, and has done national commercials for Sherwin Williams, Miller Genuine Draft, Spalding and Polaroid. Other roles and shows include Felix in The Odd Couple, Nicely in Guys and Dolls, Mortimer in Arsenic and Old Lace, Mark in Mass Appeal and Daddy Warbucks in Annie Warbucks. Kevin has also performed as Lou Costello all across the country. Kevin’s film work has included “Penn & Teller Get Killed”, “Once Upon a Time in America” and he has done numerous industrial films and voiceover work. Locally, he has appeared with the Putney Players as Sir Toby in Twelfth Night and Flute in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. As Director, some of his 30 something shows have included “Meet Me In St. Louis”, “The Odd Couple”, The Sunshine Boys”, “Jakes Women”, “Arsenic and Old Lace”, “Guys and Dolls”. “Grease”, “Damn Yankees”, ”The Addams Family,” “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”, “South Pacific”, “Oklahoma”, “Kiss Me Kate”, ”Sugar”, ”The Music Man”, “Best Foot Forward”, “Oliver”, “Big River”, “ “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Anything Goes.”
Will Duchon (Musical Director): has performed extensively as a concert pianist in the NY Metropolitan area. He was the winner of the 1990 Artists International Young Musicians Auditions, and made his professional debut at Carnegie Recital Hall that year. Will appeared as a soloist and in ensemble recitals at Carnegie Recital Hall several times since and has also appeared as a soloist with several orchestras in Florida, Mexico, and most recently with the Danbury Symphony Orchestra. Will has recorded three solo piano albums, all available on iTunes and other music sites. Since 2004, Will has been a broadcaster for WMNR Fine Arts Radio (www.wmnr.org). He is currently the Music Director at Monroe Congregational Church, Monroe, CT. Will has served as musical director and performer for over seventy theatre productions in New York and Connnecticut. He has been music director for In The Spotlight since 2009. In 2004 Will founded "The Opus 30 Mission" *www.opus30.net), a prison ministry dedicated to the exoneration of persons who have been wrongfully convicted.
Meghan Daly (Choreographer): has been teaching and choreographing in the tristate area for 10 years including Dance Etc. of Newtown, Connecticut Dance Conservatory of Stratford, and Connecticut Ballet of Stamford. She has won several choreographic awards at regional and national competitions. Meghan has also taught at Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, Manhattan Movement and Arts Center, and Peridance in New York City. She has taught for the Alvin Ailey Summer Camp in Bridgeport for 12 years. She has choreographed musicals for In The Spotlight for 10 years including "Meet Me In St. Louis," "Damn Yankees," "How to Succeed In Business," "Anything Goes," "Grease," "Bye Bye Birdie," "Guys and Dolls," "Sugar," "Kiss Me Kate," "Music Man," "The Wiz," "Seussical," "Lil' Abner," and "The Sound of Music." She has performed for Brice Mousset at several dance festivals and performances through New York and assisted him on several projects including an aerial version of Romeo and Juliet. She was highlighted in the premier of Prestige International fashion magazine with Brice Mousset and his company in 2010. She has also performed with Connecticut Ballet in The Nutcracker and Cinderella at the Palace Theater and Busnnell Theater. Meghan graduated with honors from Fairfield University with a B.A. in International Studies and Russian and Eastern European Studies. She currently received a certification from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy and is collaborating on several dance for film projects. During her spare time she transforms into a unicorn and protects the galaxy with her rainbow and sparkle creating abilities.
Mick Gloss (Producer): will handle the coordination of all technical aspects of the production, as well as facilitate the masterclass program. He holds both a B.A. in Musical Theatre and a B.A. in Technical Theatre from Western Connecticut State University. Mick has performed in two shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and in multiple shows in NYC, as well as served as a Costumer and Production Manager throughout the New York Metropolitan area.
